Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about paying a bill, dealing with your insurer and understanding your Medserv bill.

Paying your bill
Why have I received a bill when I have already paid for this treatment at the hospital?

Hospital fees are separate from the individual doctor’s fees. If we have sent a bill to you, the fee you paid at the hospital only covers the hospital facility charges — the treating Consultant has not yet been paid. If you feel there has been a mistake, please confirm with the hospital whether the fee you paid includes the Consultant’s fee.

Why have I received a bill when I have already paid my doctor directly?

We may not have been notified that you paid your doctor directly. Please email creditcontrol@medserv.co.uk with a copy of your receipt so we can reconcile your account.

My insurer advised I need to pay an excess or shortfall.

An invoice for the outstanding amount will be issued to you shortly, and you can settle it using the reference number and PIN printed on it. If you would rather pay before it arrives, please call us on 0203 384 1952 or email creditcontrol@medserv.co.uk.

Insurance
Why have I received a bill when I have insurance?

So we can submit your invoice to your insurer, please email info@medserv.co.uk with your invoice reference, your name, your insurance provider, your policy number and your authorisation number.

Why have I received a bill when I have insurance? I have already sent my details to Medserv.

We submit invoices to insurers as soon as we receive your policy details. If you have still been billed, your insurer was either unable to locate your policy or declined the payment. Please contact your insurer directly, and let us know the outcome at info@medserv.co.uk.

Your invoice & receipts
I did not see the doctor who is listed on the invoice / I do not remember being treated by them.

The doctor listed has requested that we bill you for this appointment. It is possible you may never meet the Consultant named on your invoice — for example, a radiologist who studies your scan images. If you feel there has been a mistake, please contact your surgeon or the hospital through which you booked the appointment for clarification.

How do I request a copy of a receipt of a payment I made to Medserv?

Please email creditcontrol@medserv.co.uk with the subject ‘Receipt Request’ and your invoice number. If you don’t have it available, please provide your full name, date of birth, date of consultation, Consultant name and date of payment.
